Sudden Involuntary Chemical Withdrawal   is about drug dependency (prescribed or recreational) and I wanted to deal with this subject as an important social issue that currently effects a huge number of people . I wanted the representation of withdrawal to appear as a threatening physical experience of dislocation induced by the altered brain chemistry. The face is snarling  with a self-awareness of the ridiculousness of withdrawal syndrome .

Paranoid Head. I developed various paintings of heads after some intense conversations with a young male suffering with extreme paranoia. I wanted to try to find tangible forms to visually  represent his feelings of his reality slipping towards a terrifying realm that he was fearful of. These Paranoid Head paintings aim to express the internal mental turmoil he was trying to vocalise, and attempt to capture my perceptions of his physical discomfort and vulnerability.
